Wooden Acadian Flag pen
The Acadian flag was chosen as a symbol of pride and unity of a distinct group of people, the Acadians. The flag is modelled on the French tricolor with a golden star, the Star of Mary, in the blue section. I have had the Wooden Acadian Flag pen juried and exhibited at the Mary Black Gallery in Halifax in 2006. It has also won a prize for design at The Penturners Rendezvous in Provo, Utah in 2003. Many of these Wooden Acadian Flag pens have been sent around the world to Acadians as gifts. I have used stabilized boxelder burl for the blue and red sections and the white is Nova Scotia curly maple from the District of Clare, in Nova Scotia The Wooden Acadian Flag pen symbolizes a rich Acadian heritage and will be a valued collectors item or a gift for a friend.
