James Bowie Pen
I was fortunate a few years back to win at auction, on the International Association of Pen Turners, a few cypress pen blanks from the plantation owned by Jim Bowie and his brother Resin. Jim Bowie had a checkered career. As a fighting man, he had designed a special long bladed dueling knife, the famed "Bowie Knife".
.Jim was born in 1796 and traveled throughout the southern states, eventually ending up in Mexico where he married the Governor's daughter. He heeded the call to arms for the liberation of land that would later be known as Texas. On March 6, 1836, Jim Bowie died at the famed Battle of the Alamo and thus he passed into the folklore of Texas and the United States.
I have one piece of the Plantation wood left. Let me hear your ideas on creating a pen for you.
