USS Constitution Pens
The USS Constitution Museum in Boston was able to provide me with some excellent pieces of southern live oak to make theses beautiful pens. The wood was a bit soft and I was concerned with tear out, turning on the end grain. To prevent this happening, I sent it back to a firm in the US that stabilizes wood. It is hard for me to believe that the wooden hull of this ship was able to resist cannon ball fire, hence the name "Old Ironsides". A very brave and strong ship.
Have a look at other historical ships.
